New Blog

In light of some creepy things that have been happening lately, I, like many other bloggers, have decided to delete the contents of my old blog. My old blog contained a lot of personal information and photos, and I didn't realize how reckless I had been until I went back and looked. Thank you to those of you who emailed me and warned me about what was going on. I'm sorry if you experienced the horrible things that happened--I never did, but I certainly don't want to!

I just don't think we can be too careful. We are Christian ladies, and we've got to protect ourselves. I didn't realize how flippant I was being when I posted photos of my family or gave out personal information. We can't even begin to understand how evil the internet can be if we aren't careful. I hope you'll all make adjustments that help guard your identity and protect you and your families.

So...I begin to blog again. Same blog name, different blog! ;)

It has been a rough week, and we all need to pray and seek our husband's wisdom....
Nice to see a post.

What a shame that you can't be as open as you would like just because of a small element of potential nastiness. However, you have to feel safe. Like you I try to remain reasonably annonymous but it's frustrating when you feel that some readers are like friends and you'd like to give them more personal information. Sigh.

Hope you have a wonderful third trimester getting everything finalised for the new arrival.

I can certainly understand keeping details very private on the internet - it has always amazed me how much information people have on their blogs. I always thought that perhaps I was too cautious (bear in mind I don't have a blog!!).

What creepy things have been happening on the net lately? HOpefully nothing too sinister.

Good on you for making the changes to your blog. And lovely to have you "back"!!!!

Cheers, Wilm in NZ

Thank you, Ladies, for all your sweet words. It's always good to be missed!

Wilm,

I'm an "open book" kind of person, but I never realized how potentially harmful being so open could be. I had been feeling a little worried about the information and photos I published on the internet, just because there are so many mean, sick people out there. But then, a friend's "blog identity" was stolen, and she was made out to look like a really vile person, to say the least (and she's very far from it!). However, many bloggers I know are using her experience as a warning, and they are keeping private things private.

I didn't realize how easy it was to steal someone's blog identity. And if you think about it, it would be really easy to locate a person based on the information they so freely give out (like I did). At Cherish the Home (cherishthehome.blogspot.com), there are a couple of links that really opened my eyes to the dangers. Scary stuff.

So that's why I'm being more careful. Sorry for talking your ears off! ;)

I believe you made a wise decision in removing your personal information such as photos and location details.

I really like the look of your 'new' blog!
