It should be illegal to blog without pictures! There are so many things I want to SHOW you, but I can't without my camera cord. The old-timey general description will have to do for now, even though this would be a much better post with some visual aides!
Our weekend was wonderful and restful. We spent some much needed time together at home. We started working on Johnathan's nursery! It's really cute so far. We bought little wooden letters for his name, spray painted them, and then hung them on the wall with ribbon. (We ran out of ribbon, though, so for now, the name "Johnatha" is on the wall! ;) His name will be right over his crib--which I think will work fine for now, but I just thought about the probability of them coming down as soon as he learns to stand up in the crib. Hmm...
We had been looking for wall letters, but they were all SO expensive--between 10-20 dollars per letter. We decided we would just hang his initials, but then I thought about the letters I had used for church before at Wal-Mart. They were only $2 apiece! We could create Johnathan's entire name for the cost of a single letter at a pricier baby store.
*This is where a picture of the wall letters would be if I had my camera.* ;)
Now for the part I'm anxious for...
What nursery decorating ideas do you have? Did you do something really special for your son/daughter's nursery that you would like to share with us? Baby rooms are so sweet, and I'm really enjoying coming up with ideas for Johnathan's room!
Here is what his nursery looks like so far (since I can't show you a picture right now!):
1. The basics of his room: two big windows, fairly tall ceilings, and khaki walls. I think the room is about 12'-6" x 12'-6".
2. This is his bedding.
3. This is his crib.
4. He has a dark-stained dresser and a white changing table.
5. Lastly, we want some kind of glider or rocker. Not sure, though.

It sounds so cute! I loved decorating Grace's nursery, and since we couldn't buy everything we wanted to for it before she was born we're still adding little things to it now. She slept right beside me in her bassinet for nearly four months anyways:)
Oh! I searched high and low for the perfect glider/rocker for her nursery and finally did find a set of two that we could afford at a neighbors garage sale. They are very expensive at most stores! If you get a chance I would recommend taking a look at the Sam's Club website(if you haven't already). They have furniture at very reasonable prices and I thought I saw some nice rockers last time I looked.
You'll have to remind us how far along you are. Do you find yourself nesting yet? I felt like I was nesting from about 20 weeks until about 2 weeks before my due date. By that time I didn't feel much like cleaning...or moving!
Samantha,
Thanks! I'm sure Grace's nursery is adorable! I would love to see it! It makes me feel good that you said she slept in your room for a few months--I'm sure Johnathan will be rooming with us for a while--if his dad has anything to do with it, anyway! ;)
I checked the Sam's website--they did have good prices. One of the ones that we were thinking about ordering from Walmart was on there. Thanks for letting me know!
To answer your question--I'll be 32 weeks on Saturday! The nesting instinct didn't hit me ONE BIT until last week. Really! I had NO desire to decorate the nursery--and I thought I'd be the one to decorate as soon as I saw the double lines on the test! ;) But when the urge hit--it hit big time. I feel like I need to everything done right now.
I had a glider rocker with an ottoman, and I LOVED it. It seemed so much gentler than a regular rocker. Your bedding and crib are adorable!
Wow I don't even have that much money to spend on making a nursery for two babies! We bought one crib for a hundred bucks and are being given the other one. The boys will share the room and neither cribs nor bedding nor anything matches which bugs me but oh well. It surely must be nice to be able to spend the money to get really nice things! (Nothing wrong with mine, I'm not complaining...haha I just never would imagine paying $90 for a quilt).
Tracy,
Thank you. I'm glad you gave me your opinion about the glider--I *thought* a glider would be much smoother! :)

Mrs. W,
I thought you were having a girl! Congratulations--when did you find out it was a boy?
I could never imagine spending $90 for a quilt, either. My parents are buying the bedding; if it were up to me and Matt to buy bedding/cribs, we would be shopping in the clearance aisle! ;)
Haha yeah we thought we were having a girl too...but a penis showed up on an ultrasound at 27 weeks...so yeah...
I must say the bedding your parents are buying is beautiful though...it's nice to have relatives with money or even just relatives who want to spend it on their grandson.
The crib we bought is pretty good though I can't complain, and son #1 has jungle animal bedding, son #2's bedding is plain blue because it's what I've been given. HAHA.
You are too funny, Jordin. I had a good chuckle while reading this post.
Seems the room is good size at 12'6" square, tall ceilings and low floors (hehe). Love the wall color: Khaki. What other color will you be using, or did you share that I didn't comprehend it..? Neutral color with a zing of a color compliment is great and easy to change later if the need arises.
Less is more. This sweet babe doesn't need *everything*, just the basics really. We learned this the hard way. Before Lizzie was born we basically fashioned a shrine of sorts over her bed. Goodness, in hindsight, it was horrendous. lol!
I agree with Tracy about the glider. I used a vintage rocker cuz it was cute. (rolling my eyes) Again, the hindsight thing. Later we bought a humongous easy chair to fit Rocky (the Jolly Green Giant) but put it in the nursery for about a year or so. What a dream to rock Lizzie in the comfort of such a chair. Many times Rocky would find me asleep, with Lizzie in my arms. :o) That's a *good* hindsight.
Lady Jane,
"we basically fashioned a shrine of sorts over her bed."
Ha! That reminded me of my own parents, who, after 10 years of having no children, found out they were pregnant with Allie! They too made a "shrine" of pink and white tulle over her crib, kind of in the shape of a circus tent. ;) It was pretty at first, but as soon as Allie could stand up, we found her sitting in her crib, draped in fabric. :)
Sorry for not sharing the other colors! That might be important! We're using the navy/denim look, mixed with a light blue.I think I'll use red as the accent color--I found a navy/light blue curtain with a red stripe in it that I liked.
That's funny about the Jolly Green Giant! I bet that easy chair was much better at 3 am than that pretty rocker! :) My stepmom suggested we get a Lazy Boy for the room--it makes sense to me! :)
That's what it was...a Lazy Boy. We never regretted it!
About the whole shrine thing...very similar to Allie's get-up. Downright scary now. hehe.
I am currently "doing up" the bedroom for the boys. It needs new curtains because I don't want my boys to be sleeping in a room that has roses on the see-through curtains. I want curtains you can't see through that are just a little more boyish. I think I have decided on a stars and stripes theme for the curtains since you can buy that fabric cheap at walmart and the colours are red, white, and blue. I can't afford wooden letters, and don't want to be "beat" so I am gonna make my own red, white and blue cardboard letters and blu-tack them to the wall. Hehe.
I am going to ask my husbands aunt who is disabled but sews if she will teach me how to sew by helping me make the curtains. The new baby's bedding is the blue of the red, white and blue of the US flag anyway. So cute. My other sons bedding doesn't match at all but I guess that's life haha.
Sorry to write this all here, I'm just excited about doing their room and I'm sure you're excited about Johnathan's.
By the way we are naming our son Jebediah. (It means "beloved of God").
Mrs. W,
Don't apologize for sharing your ideas! Decorating for little ones is exciting! Your boys' room ideas sound great. The stars & stripes theme was a consideration we had for Johnathan's room. Very patriotic (and *so* boyish). Rose curtains, though--not so boyish! ;)
Your new son's name is just beautiful. I love those unique Bible names. Will you call him Jebediah? There's a boy in my town who has that name, but they call him "Jeb". :)
Yeah we will call him Jebediah, we might call him Jeb occasionally, but we want him to be known as Jebediah, not Jeb.
